Mixed Feelings on This Zigbee Smart Switch - treesafe

I picked up the Zigbee Smart Wireless Button Switch Intelligent Scene Linkage Switch Smart Home Automation Support Home Assistant Zigbee 2mqtt hoping to add some flexible, localized control to my growing smart home setup, especially since I use Home Assistant. The idea of having a simple, wireless trigger for complex scenes sounded fantastic for integrating automation without needing my phone every time.

Setting up this product proved to be frustratingly inconsistent. While I was able to get it somewhat recognized, the functionality was not what I expected. For instance, in the SmartLife app, the device was only recognized as a standard two-position on/off switch, completely negating its intended purpose as a push button for scene linkage.

This immediately made the core feature useless, which is a major disappointment for any smart home automation component.

Unfortunately, other buyers seem to feel similarly about the configuration issues. Several reported that their experience was similar: the device acts only as a simple on/off toggle, or worse, they couldn't get it to stay connected, reporting that the device always remains offline. I did manage to integrate it successfully with Homeassistant, which one other buyer confirmed, but even then, configuring it beyond basic switching was problematic.

It seems this particular model struggles to convey its actual button press status correctly to standard hubs.

So, who should consider buying this? If you are deeply entrenched in Zigbee 2mqtt and have significant tinkering skills, perhaps there's a firmware hack available elsewhere that makes this work as intended, but out of the box, it’s a gamble. If you need a reliable, simple scene controller that works seamlessly with standard platforms like Tuya or SmartLife without extensive troubleshooting, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere.

For now, this Zigbee Smart Wireless Button Switch feels more like a frustrating experiment than a functional tool in my automation routine. Save your money unless you enjoy the process of buying a switch only to find it functions like a rudimentary on/off toggle.
